CAMERA MEDIA CARD DATA LOSS
The vast majority of data loss cases where memory cards are involved (the ones used in cameras, smart phones, or music players) is of the logical variety.
This means that data has been erased either by mistake or through corruption of the file system used on the card. Similar to hard drives, these situations require you to stop using the card immediately to prevent any more data being written to it, as it could potentially overwrite the data one would like to recover. These logical recoveryvery good chance of having all the data recovered.
However, should the card fail to operate (meaning it is not being seen by the device or a card reader connected to a computer) then the chances of recovery are slim to none.
Chip Failure
Unlike hard drives with its many moveable parts, if a chip on a memory card fails, it is hardly ever possible to repair the card and recover the data. In the few cases, where it can be done, it is typically prohibitively expensive and unaffordable for an ordinary person due to the special equipment involved, the data should then be considered lost.
