Data Recovery FAQ

Why does it cost so much to have my data recovered?

Sadly there is a lot of cost involved in recovering any type of hard drive.

Not only the normal operating costs that any business deals with (space, utilities, qualified staff, etc…). We must also purchase costly drive parts needed for your drive's repair.

The parts required to repair a failed hard drive must be an almost exact match, i.e. model number, firmware version and manufacturing location are required for the drive to be a compatible parts drive. Depending on the manufacturer there may be other required fields to match. We purchase these parts drives through drive suppliers that specialize in finding exact matches, this type of service comes with an additional price.

In the end, between the operating cost of the company, the drive parts and engineering time required to perform the work, the cost associated with the recovery ends up being a bit uncomfortable for most of our clients.
